60 THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS PORTLAND CHAPTER Firm Profiles Hacker 503-227-1254 • www.hackerarchitects.com 733 SW Oak St, Ste 100, Portland 97205 We are a studio of 50-plus united by a desire to create spaces that enrich the world — spaces that make us feel more con- nected to the landscape, one another and ourselves. We believe that architecture is best when it's an honest expression of the people and institutions it serves, when it interacts dynamically with its surroundings and makes humble use of the earth's resources. More than a craft or practice, we see architecture as a calling to create beauty and serve human- ity, requiring from each of us our deepest listening, questioning, curiosity and engagement. Our devotion to craft and 30-plus-year history of environmentally progressive design, our expressive use of materials and natural light, and, above all, our reputation for seeking clarity and meaning in every aspect of the work have earned us international, national and regional design awards and publication internationally. In 2016, Hacker was the 13th ranked firm in the nation by Architect Magazine, and in 2013, the firm was named the AIA Northwest & Pacific Region Firm of the Year.
